G-Hold at the Inspiring Learning Festival in Scottish Borders
Inspiring Learning Festival truly lived up to its name.
We’re extremely grateful to have been invited to this incredible event organised by the Inspire team at Scottish Borders Schools.
On the first day, we met the most wonderful P6 pupils at our Inventor Workshops. We were so impressed by how engaged they all were, and how able they were to use their iPad tools to create designs and inventions! Our CEO shares her favourite moment: "The highlight for me was a wee shy girl tugging on my sleeve at the end of a session and whispering that she now wants to become an inventor when she grows up - a major heart-melt moment!"
The following day, we were treated to a keynote speech by Toni Scullion . We often hear about the importance of female role models for girls, especially in male-dominated fields. Well, Toni Scullion is not only a role model for girls, but for boys, teachers, leaders and, frankly, humans at large! I was deeply moved by her story (none of which we'd known before) and we have a new favourite hero to look up to.
Also great to catch up with Mark Walker and Michael Conlon from XMA , Jim Mclean from Aberdeenshire Council (one of our first ever education customers!) and so many other fantastic teachers and educators who have been such a support to G-Hold over the past few years. It was such a buzz to see various G-Hold Tablet Holders whizzing around the venue and to hear some of the stories of what adventures they’d been up to across classrooms in Scotland.
Finally, we met some of the young talent from Scottish Borders Schools who had created digital books and apps that would rival many grown-up EdTech businesses! Their schools should be so proud of the work they are doing with the future tech champions of Scotland.
Thanks a million times over to Andrew Jewell and all the team at Inspire SBS - We wish We could bottle some of the magic you created at this event and sprinkle it all over Scotland and beyond!
